In this part of Western Kentucky, earthquakes are serious business. When A&K Construction was awarded a design-build contract for this 2-story pharmacy with adjacent retail tenant spaces, they chose Elrod Engineering to be the structural engineer of record for the building. Elrod Engineering designed the 21,800 SF structure to safely withstand large earthquake forces. Custom designed shear walls were utilized in the wood-framed structure to ensure the building would be resilient to the ground motions during an earthquake event keeping everyone safe.
