Elrod Engineering loves to partner with our long-time client Dow Smith, located right here in Smyrna, TN. In addition to Dow Smith being one of the best clients we have worked with, many of their projects are local which gives us the opportunity to see the fruits of our labor firsthand. Elrod served as the structural engineer of record for this 9,900 SF single-story educational building project. The roof structure was framed using metal-plate-connected wood trusses which were supported by load-bearing solid-sawn wood walls for most of the building. In one location, innovative structural steel moment frames were used to create a high-volume room that was tall enough to house an indoor playground. This helped create an exciting space that perfectly blends form and function
